Your Housing Rights Matter

Federal law provides important housing protections for individuals experiencing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking. The Housing Authority is committed to helping eligible residents understand and exercise these rights.

  • VAWA 2013 protects survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
  • You cannot be evicted or denied housing assistance based on acts of violence committed against you.
  • Emergency transfers may be available to survivors who need to relocate for safety
  • Survivors who remain in a unit may be able to establish eligibility or find new housing if a lease is bifurcated.
